Walks in Kent

Immerse yourself in nature.

Kent is a beautiful county full of criss-crossed with paths, trails and hikes, many of which are easy to navigate and take in additional attractions along the way. Here are a few suggestions for walks near Ashford.

PLUCKLEY & RIVER CHART

12 minute drive

This is a circular walk of just under 7km which takes in fields, orchards, and Europe’s most haunted village. If you’re ready for the ghosts, the walking is easy, and generally flat. The trail is open all year round, and you can take your dog to scare away the spooks.

KINGSWOOD SCULPTURE TRAIL

7 minute drive

Touching on the Sculpture Trail, this one is a short leisurely stroll on stone and flint paths, which will take you about an hour. It runs through woods, and is described by walkers, dog owners, and runners alike as truly peaceful.

The sculpture trail itself is longer (about 6.5km) and can be steep, but it’s clearly marked so you won’t miss any of the specially commissioned artworks created out of natural materials.

THE NORTH DOWNS WAY

17 minute drive

The complete North Downs Way took pilgrims over 153 miles from Farnham to Canterbury through the Garden of England and along the White Cliffs of Dover. If you don’t have that long, pick out a short section, or join the Way for a scenic route between local destinations. Most of it is easily accessible and there are a whole host of attractions and parks along the way.
